Internet of Things, wearables, smart houses, connected cars … We now hear about these technologies and their promising potential in our lives on a daily basis. However, most of us do not necessarily grasp the broad ecosystem they rely on, and the variety of issues they deal with from a legal perspective. Luke Dembosky and Jim Pastore, both partners at the multi-awarded law firm Debevoise & Plimpton in the U.S., explain in this episode how connected devices and more generally Internet of Things solutions increase cybersecurity and privacy threats. And they share with us legal and practical solutions. Debevoise & Plimpton's 700 lawyers work within integrated global practices in nine offices across three continents. Luke co-chairs the law firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice and is based in Washington, D.C., after years working on cyber issues mostly as a prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice. Jim is a member of the firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice and Intellectual Property Litigation Group, based in New York; he also spent years in the U.S. Department of Justice, prosecuting cybercrimes.
Every two weeks, on Tuesday, Brand & New gives the floor to inspiring individuals, with a 360-degree vision, to help brand owners, intellectual property lawyers, and marketing and finance professionals (and beyond!) stay curious and agile in an ever-evolving business environment.
Brand & New is a production of the International Trademark Association
Hosted by Audrey Dauvet
Contribution of M. Halle & S. Lagedamond - Music by JD Beats
