In Episode 16, we sit down with writer and director Vince Lapointe and stuntman Dave "Cheech" Marin to discuss their award-winning short film, Hurt. The film offers a raw and emotional perspective on the controversial motivations behind free solo climbing, following a veteran grappling with PTSD and heartbreak who turns to soloing as an escape. Inspired by Vince’s personal experiences as a Squamish climber and helicopter rescue swimmer veteran, Hurt sheds light on the darker side of soloing and the mental health struggles that often go unspoken within the climbing and veteran communities.
