Sodium–glucose cotransporter (SGLT) 2 inhibitors are an exciting new class of drugs approved for the treatment of newly diagnosed diabetic cats. These drugs work by blocking the kidneys from reabsorbing glucose, which causes more glucose to be lost in urine and lowers blood glucose levels.
