While the Christian church is often associated with anti-LGBTQ+ beliefs, not all congregations are the same. A growing number of communities are embracing these groups with open arms – and Cathedral of Hope of Dallas is at the top of the heap… Reverend Dr. Neil G. Thomas is the Senior Pastor of Cathedral of Hope, where he began in 2015. As the leader of the world's largest progressive Christian church, Dr. Thomas is committed to fulfilling the congregation's central mission to proclaim Christ through faith, hope, and love. A diverse range of races, ethnic backgrounds, religious experiences, ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities call Cathedral of Hope home, and they continue to expand their reach with the inclusive teachings of the Bible. Dr. Thomas is a native of Bournemouth, England and has served as the Senior Pastor of two Metropolitan Community Churches: MCC Bournemouth, England and Founders Metropolitan Community Church, Los Angeles. In addition to his work as a pastor, he is also a widely regarded speaker and contributor to local, national and international conversations around the intersectionality of faith, color, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation. In this episode, we discuss: The foundational message of Christianity. How Dr. Thomas crafts his sermons to accurately convey the voice of the Bible. Why justice and love for the disenfranchised is so foundational to Christian values. You can follow along with Dr. Thomas and his work at the Cathedral of Hope of Dallas !
