Dehydration can occur year-round. It’s easy to stay hydrated in the summer because we want to keep our body cool. When the weather changes cold, sometimes we forget to stay hydrated; or we drink dehydrating beverages like coffee, tea, or sodas.

WORKSHOP OUTLINE:
Are you dehydrated? What you might feel-
-Dry mouth, muscle tightness, cramps.
-Dizziness, headaches, nausea, fatigue, cracked skin/lips. Lowered cognitive ability.
-Blurry vision, imbalance, coughing, constipation, less urination, fainting, hallucinations, limited mental response, increased blood pressure.
Causes of Dehydration.
-Medications, surgeries/procedures.
-Change in environment (to dry, hot, direct sun).
-Swimming; change in exercise (frequency, type).
-Change in diet, change in beverage consumption (help, hinder).
Dehydration Recovery.
-Cool, dry, shaded environment; lying down; cold compress.
-Drink cool liquids with electrolytes (sodium, potassium).
-Eat light and water-filled foods (Fruits, soup).
-Avoid unneeded movements, exercise.
