Doug Stroup from Make It Clear Studios Discusses Overcoming a Traumatic Brain Injury
Manage episode 447695115 series 3464572
Doug Stroup from Make It Clear Studios discusses how he overcame a traumatic brain injury and how God has used his story and perseverance to bring about other's stories through film. From dealing with sex trafficking, to bullying and teen suicide, Doug's heart to bring hard topics to the screen to help others is inspiring.
After a prolific career in the film industry, Stroup suffered a cycling accident that left him unable to walk, talk, or drive for almost three years. It was a dark and difficult time in his life, but, like most of Stroup’s films, he found strength from God and a community of fellow believers.
“When you have a traumatic brain injury, you don’t know what you’re doing,” he said. “You don’t even know who you are. I felt God was done with me, not because of His lack of ability to use me, but because of my lack of ability to be used, because my brain didn’t work for literally almost three years.”
As bills mounted and he worked to regain his ability to think clearly, “Samaritan Ministries came through every step of the way,” Stroup stated.
Today, Make It Clear Studio releases award-winning films and series that help to shed light on some of the struggles that Christians face in the modern world. The BasketBall Movie and SaltFlix are two endeavors Doug has developed in 2024.
