Today’s guest, Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs, is a renowned actor, writer, director and producer who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of “Freddie Washington”, better known as “Boom Boom”, one of the “Sweathogs”, in the classic TV sitcom “Welcome Back Kotter”, in which he co-starred with Gabe Kaplan and John Travolta.

He also played “Cameron Sanders Sr.” on the popular daytime drama, “A House Divided”, for which he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor. And of course, we remember him as “Noah” on the groundbreaking 1977 TV miniseries, “Roots”. And he played Michael Jackson’s father, Joseph Jackson, in the 1992 miniseries, “The Jacksons: An American Dream”, for which he was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.

He’s also appeared in many other movies including “Claudine”, “Cooley High”, “Youngblood”, “The Annihilators”, “L.A. Heat”, “Southlander”, “A Chance in the World”, “The Perfect Mate”, “The Contract” and many more. And on TV, you’ve seen him in dozens of great shows including “Barnaby Jones”, “Hill Street Blues”, “Alien Nation”, “Diagnosis Murder”, “Roseanne”, “Gilmore Girls”, “Mind Your Business”, to name only a few. And who can ever forget his performance as “Brah Hardy” in the 2023 TV miniseries, “Legacy”?

And in the late 70s he conquered Broadway, starring in “I Love My Wife”. And if all of that weren’t enough, our guest is also a recording artist. In the late 70s, he released 2 albums, “Lawrence Hilton Jacobs” and “All the Way…Love”.
