Spider-Man is a character that has an extensive animation history. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the newest entry in animation of the wall-crawler. When the show was originally announced, it was supposed to be a “prequel” of the Spider-Man character portrayed by Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, during production, the decision was made to have this show exist in its own universe. Still, there are many similarities and easter eggs referencing the MCU. Does this add or detract from this animated series? Swara Salih returns to the podcast and is named the Hall of Justice “Spider-Man” insider. Salih is a freelance writer and podcaster who has written for But Why Tho?, io9, Polygon, The New Arab, and The Nerds of Color, and co-hosts The Middle Geeks podcast.
