Manage episode 365881707 series 3351444
Episode 119: In this Equestrian Author Spotlight, you'll meet Sarah V. Barnes. Sarah is both a historian and a horsewoman.
When she is not writing stories, she practices and teaches riding as a meditative art. She also offers equine-facilitated coaching and wellness workshops. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in history from Northwestern University and spent many years as a college professor before turning full-time to riding and writing.
Sarah's book, She Who Rides Horses, is set more than 6,000 years ago and begins the story of Naya, the first person to ride a horse. Daughter of a clan chief, Naya dreams of creating a different kind of relationship with the magnificent creatures, and unwittingly, sets in motion forces and events that will change forever the future of humans and horses alike. Based on extensive interdisciplinary research, She Who Rides Horses imagines an encounter between a girl and a horse that is both timeless and grounded in fact. Saddle up for a serendipitous conversation about pursuing youthful passions, shifting when you think the universe is saying no, leaning into the pause, and seeking the spaces where imagination dwells.
