One kiwi family has been battling with Air New Zealand since April over its Christmas flights that were cancelled rebooked and then cancelled again.The saga all started when Air New Zealand suspended its direct flights between Chicago and Auckland in March because of maintenance issues with the Rolls Royce engines on its Boeing 787 dreamliners. Rupert, a kiwi living in America and his extended family, 6 people in total were booked on the Chicago flight to come here at Christmas and their booking included three sky couches. When Air New Zealand canceled the direct service, Rupert just wanted to get the equivalent tickets and sky couches on another Air New Zealand flight; what he had already paid thousands of dollars for. After hours on hold to the call centre queue and Checkpoint intervening, his flights were eventually rebooked through a different route, with an apology from Air New Zealand. But now, more turbulance, the plane has been changed and so it seems have Rupert's plans.
