The Podcast: It's the new edition of The Outdated Wrestling Hour With Bob Smith podcast, which is already famous for presenting a myriad of writers and journalists - and this episode is no exception. Smith (former PWI editor and writer and an award-winning sports writer) welcomes Ian Douglass - who has co-authored several books on top wrestling stars, including Steve Keirn, B. Brian Blair, Dan Severn, and other famed mat heroes.
The Result: "This show is really an eye-opener," said Smith following the recording of his interview with Douglass. "Ian is a journalist first and foremost - the writing is so incisive that you'd think you were reading a book about a famous politician or movie star. The work on the Keirn book is the best wrestling writing I've read so far in 2024. On top of all that, this might be one of the most intelligent people I've ever met, in or out of sports."
The Verdict: Smith believes he's bringing his listeners onee of rising stars of sports journalism. Read Douglass's books and see if you are!
