Suzanne Andora Barron has been teaching yoga and Jin Shin Jyutsu for over ten years, most recently as an adjunct professor. She helps women feel better by teaching them how to process their emotions through yoga, breathwork, meditation and Jin Shin Jyutsu. She guides her students to release stress, find balance, and feel more at ease. She hosts the podcast, Finding Joy in the Hard and is finishing a memoir by the same name. Separately, she’s president of the Christopher Barron Live Life Foundation, started in memory of her son, Christopher. Suzanne's Notes from the Sidelines:
- Anger after loss is normal.
- Feel your feelings. Don't shove them down; it will only cause physical and emotional problems.
- Every night, before bed, say one thing you are grateful for and one thing you need help with. Write it down. There's something about seeing it on paper. Having a gratitude practice helps you notice the things you overlook.
- Really good things are going to happen, regardless of the bad, so have gratitude.
- We think if we're worried, we'll be more prepared, but we cannot prepare our hearts for the bad times. So, stop trying to prepare yourself for the bad, and just be in the present moment.
- Sit with your feelings instead of trying to fix them.
- Meet yourself where you're at.
- Try journaling on this: What are you thinking? Is it true? What are you making it mean?
- Joy can be found in the hard. You are so much stronger than you think you are.
