Townes van Zandt was een heel bijzondere liedjesschrijver. In zijn hoogtijdagen zou hij creatieve hoogtepunten bereiken net als Bob Dylan. Hij schreef nummers als "Pancho and Lefty", "Waiting around to Die" en "For the Sake of the Song" en vele andere pareltjes. Van Zandt stond bekend om zijn donkere, eerlijke en mooie teksten. Combineer dat met een goed oor voor melodie en een unieke zangstem en je krijgt een van de beste countryartiesten aller tijden. Townes van Zandt was a very special songwriter. In his prime he would reach creative heights just like Bob Dylan. He wrote songs like “Pancho and Lefty”, “Waiting around to Die” and “For the Sake of the Song” and many others gems. Van Zandt was known for his dark, honest and beautiful lyric writing.
